REPORT: 1000 ORPHANS CHRISTMAS PARTY - DECEMBER 2016
General Overview:
The 1000 Orphans Christmas Party - December 2016 was a success.
The party took place on Saturday, the 17th of December, 2016 at the Afua Sutherland Park (The Childrens' Park) in Accra and was attended by children from these selected Orphanages in Ghana:
1. Potter's Village
2. Rising Star Home
3. Mawuviwo's Outreach
4. Assurance of Hope Orphanage
5. Beacon House
6. Good Shepherd Home
7. Chance for Children
8. Haven of Hope
9. Hope Village
10. Doryumu Orphanage
In all, 756 Children attended the Party. Unfortunately, 4 Orphanages out of those selected had to cancel at the last minute for various valid reasons but have promised to join us at our next Christmas party in December 2017.
FOS made arrangement for all the Children and their Carers to be transported on Metro Mass buses to and from the venue of the party. By 10.00am, all the Orphanages had arrived at the venue and the Children were served breakfast before the opening ceremony at 12.00pm.
After the opening ceremony, the Children were put in groups according to their ages and taught by Sunday School Teachers for 45 minutes. They studied about the birth of Jesus Christ and its implications for Christians. Each child was then presented with a storybook / workbook: Seven Lessons for Christmas (The Full Christmas Story).
There were a lot of games and activities for the Children to take part in. The younger children enjoyed bouncing and playing on the bouncy castles and trampoline. Arts and Crafts workstations were also mounted for the Children to do some painting, drawing and coloring work. There were music and drumming performances as well as acrobatics and karate performances for the Children to enjoy.

Food and drinks were in abundance; the Children loved the Coca Cola drinks especially and they loved their portion jam and butter and dinner rolls with the iced milo drinks! The Tropical Sun can drinks and the bissap juice were a hit as well. Cotton candies and popcorn were not to be left out as the Children had them again and again. They also had cupcakes and red velvet cakes to eat and loved them all. Finally, they had their dinner of jollof rice, indomie noodles and fried chicken.
There was so much food left after the party that FOS had to pack them up for the Children to take back to their various Orphanages. FOS also packed party bags with candies, biscuits, exercise books and other souvenirs for the Children to take back to their Orphanages.
Everybody was happy at the party. The party ended at 4.30pm and the Children were transported back to their Orphanages on the Metro Mass buses.
